White Collar - The Continuing Adventures...
As last night's series finale drew to a close, I was in the WCWU chat room with some of the closest friends that I've made while taking part in this fandom. As we watched the final minutes, it hit me how amazing this whole ride has been so far and how much I hope that it's not over yet.

I'm so profoundly grateful to each and every one of you, whether I've met you in person, whether we've only exchanged fic comments or no comments at all. We've had our ups and downs, but overall, White Collar fandom has been calm, cool, and collected. It's been comprised of people who love a show and a set of characters that have inspired us beyond measure with our stories and art and discussion.

I intend to keep writing these characters, taking them on adventures and continuing the ones I've already started. While I've been very silent recently, I do not intend to keep that going in the new year. I'm still full of ideas and hurt/comfort tropes that must been written with Neal and Peter, Elizabeth, Sara, Mozzie, the Hughes family, Matt and Tim... All my favorite characters.

My hope is that you will all stick with me for some time - reading, writing, creating art. I want to thank you for everything you've contributed and everything you still have to add to the fandom collection.

I love you all! *many hugs and much champagne all around*

I am not going anywhere if I have any say in this \o/ You are one of my best friends and we are all part of this special family - and family sticks together forever, right? :D Just like Peter and Neal, there might be an ocean between us, but we will always find ways of staying in touch and getting together :D

ETA: ooh, you need to leave me a card request, I'll be working on them over Xmas :D kanarek13.livejournal.com/59685.html

I don’t plan on going anywhere, I love this fandom so much. I have not had an opportunity to meet any of the fandom, but hope to in the future. There is such a warmth that this fandom generates. I look forward to what the new year brings and hope to participate much more in the coming year.

Looking forward to what is next for Peter and Neal – I think they will always be a part of us. Even though that sounds funny about fictional characters they have managed to bring people from all over the world together.

Yay!!! I'm glad that you're here! Thank you so much for taking part in our little fandom - you're right about the warmth. It's amazing and inspiring.

I was lucky enough to be in a fandom before that was also small, but very awesome, and that spanned the continents. That show ended over 10 years ago, and I'm still very good friends with many of the people that were active there. I hope to be able to say that about WC in 10 years :)

Ok I'm still a mess....Although I'm in Paris supposedly with Neal. Srsly,  this fandom is amazing and it's like family to me...I plan on saying in touch anyway. Hugs

This. So much this. Despite the post-episode interviews with Jeff Eastin (in which he gives his rather limited view on the character of Neal Caffrey and makes it sound like the ending was much more pat that in was), the finale was wonderfully open to interpretation and for that I'm glad, as it gives yet more fodder for the wonderful, talented people in this fandom.

I'm so glad to have met you, and many others in the fandom. I've made friends, shared thoughts & brainstorming and dinners at that steakhouse in Northern VA. And I'm not going anywhere anytime soon as far as I can see.

I love how the finale went down - there are parts I could nitpick, but overall it left me feeling hopeful and inspired, which I'd kind of lost recently. I'm very excited about doing some missing scenes and post-series stuff after I clear some other fic items off the agenda.

I'm glad to have met you too and gotten to spend time talking about the show, brainstorming, and just chatting. It's been so much fun, and I'm sure we'll do it again! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Alas, I wasn't able to chat right after the finale, as I watched on serious DVR delay (I was at a basketball game last night), and the last several times I've popped into the chat room in the evening it's been empty. :(

Hoping to get back in touch w/ everyone. And to figure out WTH I'm doing for my Advent fic that's due in 5 days. I think in part I was maybe in a weird sort of limbo waiting for the finale, but it left me hopeful as well - as I said, whatever Eastin thinks, there are all sorts of possible futures after that and I look forward to what the fic writing community does with them. And now maybe I'll get past the block in my head & get back to writing. :-)

Because there can never be too many hugs.

Stupid basketball! How dare it mess with the WC series finale ;)

I've been away for the last three weeks, so I haven't had much chance to be in chat (or have been ridiculously late due to time zone crappiness). The next two weeks being holidays will probably not be great either, but I will be back to hanging out in there after New Year's.

My Advent fic is due today, and I haven't finished it just yet, so don't worry - you have plenty of time!

I'm so baffled about how Eastin could write such a lovely, open-ended finale and then say that.

At least Matt and Tim knew what show they were in. Thank God.

IKR? It's like he wrote this exciting, emotional, intricate story that still maintained the open-endeness of his original idea (but without the loss of agency that comes with a coin flip), and somehow thought it was the logical (and unambiguous) endgame of his bizarre 'born bad' concept. WTF?

And really, the reunion fic can start coming any time now. :-)

[identity profile] angelita26.livejournal.com on December 20th, 2014 11:20 pm (UTC)
Seriously! Eastin never had any idea what he was writing, which often showed, but it did create a wonderful sandbox for us to play in, so I can't complain. LOL

Matt and Tim totally knew - LOVE THEM!

I'm not going anywhere! I think I might be in this fandom til I die! Your post brought tears to my eyes :') (I was thinking of writing a post along these lines but it was far less eloquent and more along the lines of EVERYBODY STAY HERE AND WRITE PETER AND NEAL FIC FOREVER PLS.)

I hope to make it to a fandom meet up one day too ♥

I got teary-eyed while I was writing it, to be honest, but I wanted everyone to know how much I appreciate them and how I plan to be here for a long time too. :D

You should definitely come to a meet up - we have a great time chatting, discussing the show, squeezing in some writing, watching episodes, staying up late. It's basically the best kind of slumber party. :D

Hee! *HUGS*

I saw, I threw up a little in my mouth, and then I discarded it as poppycock and started head-canoning like there's no tomorrow. *shakes head at Eastin* How could one create such wonderful characters, take them on this adventure, and then say that - it's beyond me.

Because he is, at least some of the time, a poopyhead. :-) And he thinks Neal was 'born bad.' I've been intermittently ranting about that for years.

Thankfully the ending they shot was open-ended, even if he thinks it wasn't.

The show last night reminded me a little of how St. Exupery ends the Little Prince - beseeching people to look for his friend, who he sees everywhere - in the bending golden grasses and the sound of bells and in the night stars. And when we see his friend, to quickly report his location back. On it, Peter!

Awwww, that's fun! But I do think that Peter will go in search of Neal himself, just to see for his own eyes that he's really alive and okay. (I also think that Moz will report back on the sly when he catches up to Neal) :)

Happy Holidays Angel! Being in Italy, obviously, I couldn't see (still) this last season, so I hang to any review that I found on line. I'm so proud and happy to be a 'Collar' and thanks to all you writers that made this show still more special. I look forward for lots and lots more stories from you (especially 'Bookstore' and the 'Hughes', and the... Holding on sequel) 8-D

a big hug

Happy Holidays!

Thank you so much! I have about half of the next Bookstore story done, and I've been planning a longer story in the Hughes 'verse. And I have a pretty solid plan for the Holding On sequel - this last season having so much Keller has helped bring that one in to focus. Lots of writing to do, but I'm so glad to know that you're excited for them. Thank you again!

I chime in with the others, I'm also not going anywhere soon! Even though we are sooo behind with episodes in Austria (Judgement Day was the last "new" one), and I came into the fandom only last year, you all embraced me and pulled me in. And that's what I absolutely love about this fandom. No matter where on this world you are, we all connect in a stunning and utterly beautiful way. *raises a glass* TO FANDOM!

I wanted to write before to express my gratitude for your posts and your wonderful stories, but as I'm not a LJ user, anonymous posts were the only way to say that to you, and nothing I could say was enough...
Now the "risk" to "let you go" without a word is bigger than my shyness, so... here I am.
Thank you for what you (and your friends in the fandom) gave us... and an even bigger "thank you" if you'll go on!

Again, thank you *MORE HUGS*
