I hate the Burke's house.  It's so impractical for pretty much everything (especially h/c scenarios), and I hate their furniture.  It doesn't look comfortable, and everything is just too damn perfect all the time.  When does Elizabeth find time to clean it?

The only room I like is the kitchen, which is oddly super spacious and adorable.  The island is perfect - if I had enough space for something like that, I would want one.  (My parents are lovers of kitchen islands, and they've had them in their last couple of houses so I find them almost a necessary part of the room).

Ugh.  I've been very tempted to burn the whole thing down for a while now.  Force them to get a new place where things like the bathroom are on the first floor.  Unfortunately, that would only work for a fic or two.  *sigh*

LOL I hear you. FWIW, I'm not willing to let canon furniture stand in the way of h/c scenarios because they can always get new furniture. ;)

I just re-watched the Pilot a couple of days ago and realized just how narrow those stairs are. Sigh.

Yes, I do often write that couch as being way more comfortable (and longer) than it looks. Hehehe...

Side note - you have such a cute El icon! I just bought some extra icon space, so I need to find some things to add to my collection. Maybe I should branch out and include people that aren't Neal, lol

I love my El icon, and I like having icons for the other characters, too. I need another Mozzie one and a Sara one. But I like the El icon especially because I'll use it non-fannishly to represent myself sort of. (Not, sadly, that I look like Elizabeth Burke, but we share a first name. LOL)

I need a Sara one too, for that Neal/Sara verse I've been working on. Hmmm...Maybe I'll ease into this and make Neal and (other character) icons first! :)

I love the name Elizabeth! You can make so many fun nicknames from it - it's very cool. No one ever names characters Debbie (my first name) - though I did go see This is 40 last weekend and realized halfway through that the main woman's name was Debbie, and it was very jarring.

It's true that Elizabeth is probably the English-language name with the most nicknames, but perhaps ironically I don't go by any of them. I'm Elizabeth and--with the exception of a brief attempt to be a Liz when I was 12-13--I've always been and probably always will be. I tend to sign personal e-mails and PMs "E." There are a very few people who call me that, and I do like it but I wouldn't want to be called that all the time. I think because my parents and family NEVER called me any nicknames, and so my first experiences with nicknames were the cruel kinds of things elementary school kids come up with, I'm just not comfortable with any other name for myself. If I could manage to make myself like a nickname, I think I'd want to turn myself into an Eliza or Liza or Liza-pronounced-Leeza. LOL I'm sure that's way more than you ever wants to know about my name issues.

And now I'm going to have to name a character Debbie.
