UGH! I have spent the last two days trying to REMOTELY walk my mother, a 60+ woman with a love/hate relationship with Windows XP, through setting up a new laptop with Windows 8. It's my parents' first computer since they inherited a Dell with Windows XP from a failed business venture my brother and I attempted back in '03. Windows 8 is a whole new world when compared to Windows XP (or even Windows 7).

I live five hours away and wasn't able to make the drive up there this weekend to help them out. I also work in Operations/Tech Services as my day job. And I use Windows 7 every day and have had few problems with it. Conversely, I've barely glanced at Windows 8 - never even tested it out in Best Buy.

Thank all higher beings and the universe for YouTube, as I was able to find several helpful videos about the set up and use of Windows 8. (Some of the old go-to keystrokes don't even work anymore!!) And after several hours, they're connected to the internet and have anti-virus protection activated and in use.

My work here is done. *collapses in exhaustion*

I'll have to make the drive up in the next couple of weeks to clean up the crap that was pre-installed, teach them about the new features, and set up their printer.

Also, this has brought about another delay in Unbreakable, but I did manage to get a draft of the flashback done around 2am last night, so I'm trying hard to get it out to you, my friends!
