Summary: Neal just wanted to play outside with Satchmo. He had no idea that falling out of a tree would hurt so much.
Note: The Santa Day 'verse is an AU where Peter and Ellen are siblings. She is a detective with NYPD, and her partner was James Bennett until he was arrested for the murder of a fellow cop. When neither he nor his wife could care for Neal, Ellen talked Peter and Elizabeth into taking him in. Also, many thanks go to pooh_collector for asking for wee!Neal and cheerleading.

( Neal knew that he shouldn't be outside without Peter or Elizabeth, but Satchmo was making sad noises by the door, so Neal opened the door to let him outside. )

Notes: Pre-Season 5, but no spoilers. Written for the run_the_con lightning round for the following prompts: "sleeping in", "breakdown", "out of time", "falling softly", "change of plans", and "you don’t know me". A couple of these snuck in there while I was writing.

( Snow was falling softly onto the windshield as Peter drove expertly down the winding roads of Connecticut. A case had finally taken them out of the city, and Neal had been almost too excited to sit still for the drive. )

Summary: Neal sneaks out one night and is assaulted by bullies from school. While he recuperates in the hospital, Peter and Mozzie take matters into their own hands.
Author's Note: 1) White Collar and the recognizable characters do not belong to me. 2) Beta credit goes to the amazing embroiderama, and a special thanks to theatregirl7299 for giving it an early read and cheerleading. 3) This story takes place in the same universe as Stand By Me but it is not necessary to read that ficlet first. All you need to know is that Neal, Peter, Mozzie, Diana and Sara are all foster children living with June and Byron in upstate NY.
