Meme: Tell Me About Your Titles
From [livejournal.com profile] elrhiarhodan. This one was a lot of fun. It was great to look back on my titles and remember what made me choose them.

Came part and parcel with the idea for the story: All of my early WC fics had basic titles that described either the fic or something important about it: Torn Stitches, Home, The Letter, etc. Oh, and my personal fave, Not a Headache.

Panic stations! The fic is ready to post/I have to post this tomorrow and I don't have a title: This is usually when I turn to [livejournal.com profile] pooh_collector, who comes up with amazing titles. I think the first one (of many!) she helped me with was Concoction Conundrum.

I have to call it something and it might as well be that: This also describes much of my early WC fics – see first part above.

LordKingBadTitle: Oh, A Case at the Zoo! I mean, it describes the fic well, but ummm.. not my best titling work.

Loaners (suggested by my beta reader/my mum/some guy I accosted on the street/the cat): Again, pooh bear is great at giving me titles when I need them. I will also take the titles from [livejournal.com profile] kanarek13's gorgeous artwork, if I'm inspired to write fic. Postcards from Paradise and Safe in Your Arms are two that came from her work.

Title that makes me glee like an idiot: Unbreakable and Unbearable. It took me forever to come up with the title for Unbearable, but I was so damn excited when I finally thought of it.

Punny: Saturday Night Fever and A Little Hope for their Future are punny, I guess. :-/

One worders that don't suck: I really liked Amity as a title. And Addled. Of course, Unbreakable and Unbearable are my crowning achievements here.

Best attempt to break AO3's character limit: I Don't Want to be Anything Other than Me - I think that's my longest title.

Working title alternatives and 'You can't call it that's: o_O I have no idea what to put here. I don't normally have working titles, and no one's ever said "You can't call it that", so I'm going to bow out of this one.

What does it meeeaaan?: Quiet the Nerves was a fun, random fic title.

Literary Allusions/Song titles: A lot of my fic titles are song lyrics. As far as song titles go, one of my faves is Stormy Weather. Also, Remains, which I don't think is a song that was ever commercially released.

On the literary side, Miles to Go and its follow-up Before I Sleep, and Things Fall Apart. On the WCRPF side, Ode to Broken Things and Love, In Fire and In Blood are from Neruda works. Take a Peep Into the Future is from Peter Pan.
