Drabble Meme: Bookstore AU Edition
Hi all! I'm trying to get my muse back in gear despite how busy this summer is turning out to be, so I thought it would be fun to do a drabble meme. I have quite a few stories in the Bookstore AU that I would like to write, so I'm hoping to get the muse inspired on that front.
In the comments, leave me the name of a character from the 'verse and a noun (place, emotion, thing, whatever). :)
Prompt away!

Tim, pancakes
Tim yawned and rolled over to find Matt's side of the bed empty and cold. His brows drew together for a moment until he caught a whiff of pancakes and maple syrup.
Pulling on a t-shirt, Tim made his way down the hall and into the kitchen. Matt was standing in front of the stove, pouring batter into a hot skillet.
"Morning," Tim said, moving behind his boyfriend and slipping his hands around Matt to hug him from behind.
Matt smiled and turned enough to press a kiss to the side of Tim's jaw. "Hey, sleepyhead."
A glance at the clock showed that it was only 8:12. Tim snorted. "Early bird. It's Saturday, you know."
Matt put his spatula aside and turned in Tim's arms so that he was facing him. "You don't know what today is?"
Tim's brain whirled, trying to remember the date and what the special occasion could be. Then, he smiled. "Happy anniversary."
Matt raised an eyebrow. "Of?"
"The day that we met," Tim replied, leaning in for a kiss. "The best day of my life."
Matt grinned and kissed him again. "Love you."
"Love you too."

Central Park

When Matt disappeared from Tiffani's, Tim knew exactly where to find him. It had been a long day for everyone, but Matt had struggled with spending time with Alex and her friends at her birthday party. They were good kids, but they hadn't met Matt before, so he'd gotten a lot of stares and awkward behavior from the girls.
There was a spot in Central Park that Matt had shown Tim once. He'd said it was his favorite place in the world, and Tim believed him wholeheartedly. He made his way confidently down a path toward the Ravine and its waterfalls.
With a small smile, he found Matt sitting on a rock near one of the waterfalls. His crutches were propped next to him, and he was looking out toward the water with a distant gaze.
"Hey," Tim said softly. "May I sit?"
Matt nodded but didn't look away from the falls.
"Want to talk?"
"Not really."
"Then, I'll talk. I'm sorry that I didn't talk to the girls before the party. They're young, and they needed some guidance so that they could understand."
"It wasn't the girls."
"No?"
"Okay, it wasn't all the girls." Matt sighed and leaned against Tim's side. "I hate waiting. I've always hated it, but it's even harder when we have no idea when or if we'll ever be able to adopt kids of our own."
He held up a hand when Tim took a breath and opened his mouth to speak.
"I love Alex," Matt said, "but she and I will never have the kind of relationship that you have with her. We'll have our own friendship, for sure, but I want to have what you have with someone too."
"You will. I promise you, Matty. I'm not sure when, but we'll have kids of our own. And they're going to be the best, brightest, sweetest kids. And you're going to be an amazing dad."
A tear trickled down Matt's cheek, and Tim wiped it away with his thumb. Putting his arm around Matt's shoulders, Tim pulled him close and held him tight.

Matt adjusted his tie and smoothed the front of his black suit. He looked at himself in the mirror for a moment before tugging off his tie and picking a different one from the stack on the bed.
He'd just finished knotting his fifth option when there was a knock on the door. "Come in," he called.
Joe stepped inside and raised an eyebrow at the mess. "Everything's set downstairs. How's it going in here?"
"None of these ties are right. Why didn't I bring the blue one from the engagement party? That one was nice, right?"
Joe moved several of the ties aside and then made Matt sit on the unmade hotel bed. "Hey, hey. Take a couple of deep breaths. This is your wedding day, and everything is going to be perfect. You trust me, yeah?"
Matt nodded and closed his eyes so that he could concentrate on calming down. When he opened them a moment later, Joe was pulling a striped Persian blue tie from the jumble of material. It was the one he'd worn to his engagement party at Willie's.
"Anything you want to talk about?" Joe asked carefully.
"No, I'm okay now. Thanks." Matt smiled as he took the tie and draped it around his neck.
"You guys are great together," Joe said. "There's nothing to worry about."
"Thanks," Matt repeated, giving him a wider grin. "That means a lot, man."
Joe's lips quirked when he spotted a familiar document on the desk by the door. "Besides, this is all just for show. This," he grabbed the marriage license that had been signed the day before and that he'd witnessed, "says that you're already married. You could slip out the back with Tim and be halfway to your honeymoon before anyone was the wiser."
Matt couldn't help but chuckle at that. Joe was definitely helping him to feel better about everything, and there was no way he was going to leave their families and friends sitting in the hotel ballroom without any grooms for the ceremony.
He held his hand out, and Joe handed over the license. Matt loved the authenticity of document, the way that it bound him with Tim for the rest of their lives. It was everything that he'd wanted since Tim had walked into his bookstore, and he'd fallen almost instantly in love.
"Knot your tie," Joe said, breaking the moment. "You've got five minutes before you have to be downstairs." He patted Matt on the shoulder and left him alone to finish getting ready for his wedding.

Matt came in early one Saturday evening and smiled at Tim, who was standing in front of the refrigerator contemplating dinner options. "Hey, do you have plans tomorrow?"
Tim's brows drew together as he drew out the word, "Noooo."
"Great! Joe came in the store this afternoon with tickets to the charity hockey game. FDNY vs NYPD. You want to go?"
"Yes!" Tim grinned. "That sounds like fun."
"It can get a little rowdy," Matt laughed, "but the guys are pretty good. It should be a great game."
Tim nodded and turned back to the fridge. He pulled out their leftover lasagna from the night before and started reheating it. "So, tell me, did you ever play?"
"A few times. I wasn't really on the team, but I filled in every now and then, and I played in the charity games a couple of years." He shrugged while he filled two glasses with water.
"What position? Winger?"
"Right wing or sometimes center. I tried defense once and seriously had my bell rung."
Tim leaned over and pressed a kiss to his temple. "You know what position I'd never want to do? Goalie. Voluntarily getting in the way of pucks? No, thanks."
Matt chuckled. "Yeah, not something I'd want to do either."
"What time is the game?"
"Around 1, in Uniondale."
"So," Tim wagged his eyebrows suggestively, "we can sleep in?"
Matt just laughed and nodded and kissed his boyfriend.

This 'verse makes me very warm and fuzzy and that's quite the accomplishment since, you know, I'm a warm and fuzzy bear already.
